Scouts and Guides on The World Youth Day

Let's meet in Krakow! Use this special time and meet scouts and guides from all over the world in Krakow. Help us make the World Youth Day an amazing adventure for pilgrims and volunteers! The WYD is an international meeting of young people from around the world who together with priests, bishops and the Pope gather in one place and express faith in Jesus. The creator of the first World Youth Day was Pope St. John Paul II, who brought together young people in Rome (1984, 1985, 2000), Buenos Aires (1987), Santiago de Compostela (1989), Czestochowa (1991), Denver (1993), Manila (1995), Paris (1997) and Toronto (2002). After the death of John Paul II the dialogue between Church and young people during World Youth Day was continued by Pope Benedict XVI, who met with believers in Cologne (2005), Sydney (2008) and Madrid (2011). With the support of Benedict XVI, Christ was constantly preached and adored by young people around the world in this modern world. Last time Pope Francis met with young people in July 2013 in Rio de Janeiro where he announced that the next World Youth Day will be held in Krakow, Poland in 2016.
